Revered Family Specialist, Jo Frost to Help Raise Awareness of Anaphylaxis and Life-Threatening Food Allergies

August 11th 2015, Los Angeles — The UK’s Anaphylaxis Campaign announces the addition of global parenting expert, Jo Frost, as the newest celebrity ambassador for the Campaign. Lynne Regent, Chief Executive, Anaphylaxis Campaign said: “We are so pleased Jo Frost will be joining the Anaphylaxis Campaign as one of our patrons and we look forward to working with her.  Jo has always been a very strong supporter of the Campaign and her personal experiences of living with a severe allergy means she has a strong understanding of the condition and the challenges it presents.  Jo’s work with families and children means she can bring her natural empathy and knowledge to help parents and carers who are looking after a severely allergic child, which can be very emotionally stressful and worrying.”

Frost joins champion swimmer Mark Foster and celebrity chef, Giorgio Locatelli, as crusaders for this important cause. Jo will work closely with Anaphylaxis Campaign and its numerous families to help raise awareness of the tremendous challenges families face when living with life threatening food allergies.

As a global parenting expert, bestselling author and television personality, Jo Frost has dealt with the life-threatening risks of food allergies within her work with families and also personally since Jo herself is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and shellfish. Jo will support the Campaign by using her popularity and credibility to educate families and communities about the health and safety issues surrounding food allergies.

Jo is thrilled to join Anaphylaxis UK, “As a global voice for those who live with life threatening allergies I am grateful to have the opportunity to join forces with an esteemed organization like the Anaphylaxis Campaign. Together we will make strides in bringing awareness and education to communities and individuals who are less informed about this medical condition, creating inclusion and equality for those of us living with Anaphylaxis.”

Amanda Peet and Jo Frost joined forces last week at the Los Angeles Walgreens Flagship store in Hollywood to support children around the globe through the Get a Shot. Give a Shot campaign.

Peet and Frost, who both serve as Global Advocates for the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign, rallied Americans to get their flu shots at Walgreens this season promoting health and providing life-saving vaccines to children in developing nations.

For a second year Walgreens has partnered with the UN Foundation to donate one life-saving vaccine for every immunization administered at a Walgreens location. Frost and Peet both received immunizations in front of an audience of Shot@Life supporters.

“Last year, I traveled to Kenya with the Shot@Life campaign and witnessed firsthand the devastation that diseases like polio and measles have on our world’s youngest citizens,” said Peet. “Through this partnership with Walgreens, the UN Foundation will be able to deliver millions of life-saving vaccines to developing nations who just want to give their children an opportunity to see their fifth birthday.”

Frost, global parenting expert, best selling author and television star most recognized for her firm but respected techniques on “Supernanny,” recently released her seventh book; “Jo Frost’s Toddler Rules: Your 5-Step Guide to Shaping Proper Behavior” and joined the Shot@Life campaign earlier this year after being moved by her work with families around the world.

“All children deserve a shot at a healthy, happy life,” said Frost. “If getting your flu shot, or any of your immunizations, will provide a life-saving vaccine to a child in need then I will be first in line! Children around the world are dying from vaccine preventable diseases – that is something we all need to stand up for.”

Around the globe, every 20 seconds a child dies from a vaccine preventable disease like measles or pneumonia. The United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign helps further the work of the United Nations to expand access to these life-saving vaccines. One of the biggest stressors in school-aged children is test taking. To help prepare your child for a big test day make sure of the following:

1. The get a good night’s sleep (no all-nighter cramming sessions)

2. They eat breakfast (preferably something that does not contain too much sugar, as that will only increase the jitters)

3. Assure them that it is ok to be a little nervous. That will keep their mind engaged and ready

4. Coach them by telling them to first answer the questions they know and then go back to everything else. Sometimes a simple jogging of the memory to get going is all they will need

5. Last minute backpack check before leaving the house. Do they have the pens/pencils/calculator they need for the test?

One of the true classics of American literature, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has stirred the imagination of young and old alike for over four generations. Originally published in 1900, it was the first truly American fairy tale, as Baum crafted a wonderful out of such familiar items as a cornfield scarecrow, a mechanical woodman, and a humbug wizard who used old-fashioned hokum to express that universal theme, “There’s no place like home.”

Follow the adventures of young Dorothy Gale and her dog, Toto, as their Kansas house is swept away by a cyclone and they find themselves in a strange land called Oz. Here she meets the Munchkins and joins the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion on an unforgettable journey to the Emerald City, where lives the all-powered Wizard of Oz.
