Your child`s lunch

Tired of having the lunch you packed your child in the morning appear untouched when you clean out their lunch sack that night? For kids, it's all about variety and texture.

While a sandwich with lettuce and tomato on whole wheat bread is a good start, try adding to it with some cut up carrots for crunch, a low fat yogurt or a piece of fruit (fresh or dried) for sweetness, and a bottle of water (most boxed juices are high in sugar).

Packing different foods and textures gives your child a variety to choose from, and leaves them with a little something to snack on later, if they need it. And, do consider occasionally throwing in a special treat that your child might enjoy or give them something to "trade" a friend for.
